Parish Cookout
Time certainly does fly by when you’re having fun! Our end of the year cookout and covered dish gathering is just around the corner – Wednesday, May 25!!!
The Parish Family Life Committee hopes all of you will join us in the backyard of the Kyle House for this fun event. Please bring your favorite dish to complement the burgers and dogs. That could be salad, potato salad, slaw, baked beans, fruit or anything else that would make you happy. Let’s not forget dessert!!! We will need something sweet – cookies, brownies, cake, pie…yum!
The staff of St. John’s will set up the tables and chairs outside prior to the cookout. However, it would be great if we could get several volunteers to help us move them back inside at the end of the dinner. Please let Robin Kelly know if you can help us.
We look forward to a fun-filled evening with you on Wednesday, May 27 at 6:00 p.m. Please email or call Robin Kelly, rhkelly2@yahoo.com or (910)527-7425 if you have any questions.

Film Screening: Chocolat
Feeling a little mysterious? Join us in Hauser Hall to watch the film Chocolat. Afterwards there will be light refreshments and a discussion.
A synopsis of the film:
When mysterious Vianne and her child arrive in a tranquil French town in the winter of 1959, no one could have imagined the impact that she and her spirited daughter would have on the community stubbornly rooted in tradition. Within days, she opens an unusual chocolate shop, across the square from the church. Her ability to perceive her customers' desires and satisfy them with just the right confection, coaxes the villagers to abandon themselves to temptation -- just as Lent begins.
