ECW August Gathering
The Rev. Mary Frances Curns of St. Anne’s, Jacksonville, presents "Praying with the Hymns." Our schedule for the day will be as follows:
9:00 Registration
9:45 Assembly Begins
11:30 Holy Eucharist

Conversation and Eucharist with Rt. Rev. Lee
The Rt. Rev. Peter Lee celebrates Eucharist with us, followed by dinner and conversation to help develop a broader understanding of the resolution and liturgy for the blessing of same-sex relationships.
At our annual retreat this year, the Vestry agreed to familiarize ourselves with the current position of the Episcopal Church and our diocese on the blessing of covenanted unions. It is an honor to welcome Bishop Peter Lee, on May 21, who will help guide a discussion on this ministry at dinner, as well as celebrate Eucharist with us at 5:15 p.m. The Vestry believes that the timing is right to collectively and prayerfully begin dialogue and discernment, and we hope to have a good turnout to welcome Bishop Lee and participate in this important discussion. If you wish to learn more about this ministry, please read John Holmes' full article in The Epistle or on our website.
Walk-About Q-and-A
This is most likely your greatest (and last) opportunity to hear the nominees for the VIII Bishop of East Carolina speak. Each nominee will answer questions submitted by members of the diocese and chosen by a moderator. Don’t miss this critical moment for the future of our diocese! Read each nominee's profile for additional information.
Lenten Speaker Series Pt. 3
Open to all parishioners and guests, join us for the second installment of the Lenten Speaker Series, a continuing discussion about the discernment process for the VIII Bishop of East Carolina. Fr. Alves will begin the third installment of the series by revealing how the border between the dioceses of North Carolina and East Carolina was determined. Add to your Episcopal trivia and find out the answer next Monday! Communion and luncheon will follow the discussion.
Progress Report on the Search for the Next Bishop of the Diocese of East Carolina
At the parish dinner, Tom Holt, chairman of the Search and Nominating Committee, will offer his reflections on the discernment process that led to the selection of the slate of nominees that will be presented to Diocesan Convention in early February. Tom will also tell us about the way the nominees will be introduced to the greater diocese through the website and walkabouts. The VIII Bishop of East Carolina will be elected at a special convention in May and ordained and consecrated at a service in November 2014.
