The Way of Love - A Lenten Study
Fr. Alves will lead an exploration of The Way of Love during Monday Morning (beginning, Monday, March 11 at 10:30 a.m.) and Wednesday evening (beginning Wednesday, March 13 at 6:45 p.m.) Lenten Studies at St. John’s. The same material will be presented on Mondays and Wednesdays each week, providing participants the ability to attend the most convenient session each week. The sessions will be designed to provide an introduction to the Way of Love and to give the opportunity for participants to engage and explore the newly developed rule of life.
Daughters of the King - Lenten Quiet Day
Saturday, March 9, 9:00 a.m. You are invited to join the Daughters of the King of St. John’s Episcopal Church, for a Lenten Quiet Day on Saturday, March 9, 2019. You can expect Morning Prayer, quiet, Lenten reflections from Merton, questions to help shape your Lenten experience, stillness, laughters, sacred conversations, and the Holy Eucharist. Lisa Richey, ObJN, will lead this gathering. A light lunch will also be shared. Operation Inasmuch

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
Tuesday, February 13, 6 p.m. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, February 13, 6:00 p.m. Come celebrate Shrove Tuesday with St. John’s at our Annual Pancake Supper. The dinner is hosted by St. John’s Youth. There will be plenty of pancakes, sausage, and fresh fruit.

The Christmas narrative will be performed by the children. Nursery care will be provided.

Rite I Holy Eucharist with congregational hymns. Nursery care will be provided.
Monday, December 24, 10 p.m.
Christmas Choral Eucharist. Featuring the Chancel Choir. The music is followed by a grand Rite II Christmas Eucharist, complete with congregational hymns and traditional carols.
Rood Screen Installation
Saturday, December 22, 9 a.m. The Rood Screen will be installed in the sanctuary for the Christmas services. We’d love to have your help in setting up
Rood Screen Greening
Wednesday, December 19, starting at 9:30 a.m. The Rood Screen will be greened all day Wednesday. Come as you are able to tie cedar branches to our Rood Screen. Holiday music will get us into a festive spirit and refreshments will be available, including snacks, a light lunch, and supper. Feel free to bring a favorite snack to share.

Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra
Royal Court of Brandenburg
Thursday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m.
Revel in the balanced beauty of the Baroque in a program of beloved masterpieces by J.S. Bach and Antonio Vivaldi. Bach’s six Brandenburg Concertos were a royal gift to the court of Brandenburg in 1721; they have remained some of the greatest and most beloved compositions of the Baroque era. FSO musicians and Music Director, Stefan Sanders, will perform the third and fourth Brandenburg Concertos along with portions from Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor. Also, on the program, is the bright and lively Concerto for Two Trumpets by Antonio Vivaldi.
Veterans Day Service
The Episcopal churches of Fayetteville and the Upper Cape Fear Deanery, together with the Episcopal congregation at Fort Bragg will host a service of support for our Veterans on Wednesday, November 7th at 5:30 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 302 Green Street, in Fayetteville.
The Rt. Rev. Carl W. Wright, Bishop Suffragan of the Armed Forces and Federal Ministries, will preach. The service will include healing and Holy Communion. Members of the Fayetteville and Fort Bragg communities are welcome. The cost of dinner is $9.00 per person. There will be no charge for veterans or for those on active duty in the military.
