  • Coffee and Conversation

Last month, we had constructive talks with parents about ideas for shaping the 2014-15 children's Sunday school program. With a potential 70 participating children this fall, we want to continue our collaboration with parents on new plans, which include a class designed specifically for 3 to 4-year-olds, in addition to the nursery, K-3rd grades, and 4th-5th grades. If you have children under 12, please join us for the next talk this Sunday in Hauser Hall. Learn what will be new for next year and how you can help build a strong Sunday school for children.

  • Children's Ministry Forums

August 24. During the 10:30 a.m. service, our preschool director, Donnie Winston, will talk to us about our current ministry with young children and offer inspiration and direction to help our church and parents to intentionally support our children in their faith development. We are blessed to have Donnie Winston at St. John's. Please come and show your support for her ministry. She will be availbe for questions and discussion during Coffee Hour after service.

September 7. Following her August 24 address, Donnie Winston will lead a forum for parents and others who are interested in strengthening our 3 and 4-year-olds class and our nursery at 9:20 a.m. Sunday, September 7.

  • Children's Chapel

St. John’s offers a worship service for children ages 3-8 at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday in the chapel. Led by adult volunteers, Children's Chapel provides a positive worship environment for children who are too old for the nursery, but not quite ready to fully understand some parts of the worship service.

Children join the Chapel leaders behind the Children’s Cross during the procession at the beginning of the 10:30 a.m. service. The children's service includes scripture reading, prayers, stories and learning basic Episcopal traditions. The children are led back into the main church during the Passing of the Peace to join their parents.
